OBSESSIVE SWEATING...????? help. im a 15 year old girl, the room could b ice cold and i sweat like a pig :(?

I have no idea whats wrong with me but I sweat constantly. I put deodorant on several times a day. I dont have a gym class at school (this year) and im not doing any vigerous activity other than going up and down stairs to differant classes...and sitting in class. This problem seems to be most obvious to me when im on school. Seriously the room could be ice cold and my under-arms are soaking wet...and smelling awful. My face isnt wet or anything its just my under-arms. Its very embaressing because people have made comments about it. I am skinny so its not like im overweight or anything. Any ideas of whats wrong with me????

Heavy set will cause sweating as well as being diabetic.

i dont know whats wrong....i had the same problem too. im also 15. what really worked for me was certain-dri. you can find it at wal mart in the deoderant aisle. im telling you, it WILL work. go buy it...trust me. u put it on before you go to sleep, and in the morning put on your normal deoderant...the day i started using it i stopped sweating and ive been using it for over 2 years. i LOVE it. its about 5 dollars a bottle and they last a considerable amount of time. if it doesnt work on you, you can hit me! lol. GOOD LUCK!
Reply:You might have some over active sweat glands going...I saw a show on tv about a guy who had the same problem, and he went to a plastic surgeon who gave him botox shots I think in the armpits, and it seemed to help him...Talk to your parents, and see what they might think, and check with your doctor.
Reply:dont worry, during this stage in ur life, teenagers and young adults tend to sweat a lot..

i passed in that stage, and the same happened to me and everyone who once was a teenager.

just make sure u wash daily, and shave ur armpits clean always. this reduces the amount of sweat and the odor that might come out. also try wearing strong perfmuned deodarant.

dont worry its just a stage,, ull soon get done with that.

hope tht helped! :)
Reply:I think I can seriously help you with this problem. I used to have the same problem. Then I googled it online. I found out that it is called hyperhydrosis. I was exactly the same way you were (except for the odor, I didnt have any odor, just sweat). I ordered this stuff called Maxim. It has saved me. You put it on at night when you go to bed. It shrinks your pores this getting rid of the sweating. Now when I first used it, it burned when I put it on, but now it doesnt bother me at all. You cant use it right after you shower or shave your underarms, so you'll want to do that in the mornings and then put the maxim on at night. Go to www.coradhealthcare.com. I have used this for 3 years now and I never sweat under my arms, not even in the summer. And after your body is used to it, you can use it just 2 or 3 times a week at that point. I do. Hope this helps, it sure did me!
Reply:sweating is good sometimes students can be up tight with everything but try drinking alot of water atleast enough water where u cant drink anymore or to the point you start wanna throw it up or whatever maybe because your body temperture is high and it keeps working really hard without water cooling you down well anyways yea try that hun
Reply:I am a 25 year old guy who had sweating problems for years. I tried different deodorants, the stuff you put on your back to close pores, even considered sweat gland removal surgery.

What finally helped was starting to see a Chiropractor. Sweating is controlled by the nervous system, and when the nervous system is out of whack, sometimes it makes you sweat more. Try it.
Reply:A really goof friend of mine has that problem and belive it or not the doctor had her get botox shots in her armpits and it worked pretty good for her, i would suggest looking into that
Reply:There's a whole host of things you can use to either prevent sweating, reduce it, or hide it.

I had the same problem when I was younger so I know all about it.

For the immediate time you should invest in some dress shields, or sweat-guards. You can find these all over the place online. I used kleinertsshields.com before and I was happy with them. They also have undershirts that have this "wicking" technology. Those are cool, too, you should check em out.

Also, if you're skinny, you may want to check with your doctor. It could be that you have a condition (I had it too) called 'hyperthyroid'. It's when your thyroid gland is over-active. Makes gaining weight impossible, and sweating much more probable.

Another thing is, you say you're not doing any vigorous activity. If you're thin, you probably have a fast metabolism. You need to be doing some vigorous activities to burn off some energy. Or else it will still be burned off, but it will come in the form of sweat. So definitely add some exercise to your routine.

By the way, there's nothing "wrong" with you. This is a very common thing, especially amongst young people.

For the smell, you can do a Yahoo! Search on "bromhidrosis". This is the medical term for chronic body odor. Again, probably something that will pass as you get older.

If you're eating lots of sweets, spicys, or highly processed foods, that could contribute to odors as well.

But mainly, don't worry about it too much. Try to focus on exercising, eating well, maintaining your self-esteem, and visiting with your doctor.

For more information about all this stuff, you can check out the website listed below. That's where I found a lot of the info.
