The problem is: I'm a gym class instructor. SO, basically I sweat and bathe at least twice a day. There is two weeks of tatoo care which I think is so imposible for my lifestyle.
I'm ready for a tattoo. I have the design at hand but I'm thinking about how to take care of it... any comments or suggestions?
With my lifestyle-- can there be a possibility of takng care of my tattoo well... thanks guys in advance for the answers. ^_^
Sweating %26amp; taking baths bad for tatoo?
Actually, I think you can get one, if you can do the following:
The first day, maybe two, *maybe* three but I doubt it... you can not have lots of sweaty activity. The first day is really the most important as that's when the skin is open to infection; you're not working 7 days a week, are you? Take that first day or two off (weekend?), do light stuff the next few days. By the end of the week the skin is pretty much sure to be healed enough to handle non-excessive sweating.
As far as bathing, it's really a matter of not being able to soak it for the first several weeks to a month. Showers are fine, just be careful with the area early on and don't scrub it until the peeling is done.
It'd still be tricky. If you could plan it around a vacation or a quiet time like the holidays - assuming they're quiet for you - that could work as well.

When I got my first tattoo done last winter, showering did not affect it. Make sure you do not scrub the area hard, and don't wear tight clothing around it. Use lotion or whatever your tattoo artist suggests to help it heal fast and clean. You will feel itchy, you will "molt". Do not worry, just don't pick at it.
Good luck! :)
*edit* mine is on my right hip, so I had to wear loose pants for a week or two, but it's ok...I was PMSing 2 days after I got it :-p
Reply:were are you planning on getting the tattoo ??? is it in a spot were you sweat alot???? is there a way you can bath without getting it wet .. like if you get it on your arm just dont leave your arm in the water for to long
Reply:Just don't wear any clothes that could possibly rub it. Your tattooist will let you know what creams to rub on it. I used 100% cocoa butter and had absolutely no problems. Don't take baths take showers and don't scratch it. It will flake a little don't worry about it. Make sure you go to a very reputable tattoo parlor...the extra expense will be worth it trust me.
Reply:You can do it ..... just will have to modilfy your life for a day or so ... LOL.
You may have to go easy for a day or so, so make sure you get it on a day off or a day you can take off.
Washing the tattoo and keeping it clean are going to be super important in the healing process. You will need to wash it at least 3 times a day for the first week, can you do that ? Sounds like it! Ordinarily you will leave the tattoo in the open to breathe since it will heal faster but if you must do something dirty or will be sweating alot or have something rubbing on it like the belt its advisable to cover it with something like a large bandaid or telfa pad. Once done the activity WASH the area well and leave unbandaged and apply bacitracin or A%26amp;D as needed for the first 2-3 days. Make sure you listen to what your artist tells you his instructions may slightly differ, let him know what you do for a living.
Reply:i think you should get a tattoo elsewhere, tattoos on the lower waste are kind of ... like tramp stamps.
watch wedding crashers? they call it a bulls eye.
Reply:Showering is fine, what you don't want is to scrub it or let it soak. So in other words no baths or swimming for about 2-3weeks. Sweating shouldn't effect it either. I suggest talking with the tattoo artist though. Just make sure with them that its alright. They should have the best answers for you. Also for after care what i've always done for mine is polysporn for the first 2 days doing it 2-3 daily then afterwards using non scented lotion 10 times daily to keep it moist.
