Excessive sweating?

I don't know what it is, but even when I'm sitting in school (which is air conditioned) I sweat. I actually sweat through a hooded sweatshirt once. What can I do to control this? It will emotionally hurt me if anyone ever finds out.
Excessive sweating?
I think you might have Hyperhidrosis a medical condition in which a person sweats excessively and unpredictably. People with hyperhidrosis can sweat even when the temperature is cool, and when they are at rest.

There are two form of Hyperhidrosis - Primary (unknown cause) %26amp; Secondary (known cause)

Primary is a far more frequent condition than Secondary Hyperhidrosis and appears, generally, localized in one or several locations of the body (most often hands, feet, armpits or a combination of them). It usually starts during childhood or adolescence and persists all life. Nervousness and anxiety can elicit or aggravate sweating, but psychological disturbances are only rarely the cause of the disorder.

If the sweating occurs as a result of another medical condition, it is called Secondary Hyperhidrosis. The sweating may be all over the body, or it may be in one area. Conditions that cause Secondary Hyperhidrosis include: Acromegaly, Anxiety conditions, Cancer, Carcinoid syndrome, Certain medications and substances of abuse,

Glucose control disorders, Heart disease, Hyperthyroidism,

Lung disease, Menopause, Parkinson鈥檚 disease, Pheochromocytoma, Spinal cord injury, Stroke,

Tuberculosis or other infections.

If you have Secondary Hyperhidrosis, once you treated the underlying condition, the excessive sweating should be gone.

But if yoy have Primary Hyperhidrosis, as I mention before since the cause is unknow, it's currently untreateable. There are some methods (Antiperspirants, Iontophoresis, Drugs,

Botulinum Toxin, Surgery) have been adopted to help contorl the problem.

My suggestion to you is visit a Doctor who specialize is this field, he/she will perform different test such as:

Starch-iodine test. An iodine solution is applied to the sweaty area. After it dries, starch is sprinkled on the area. The starch-iodine combination turns a dark blue color wherever there is excess sweat.

Paper test. Special paper is placed on the affected area to absorb the sweat, then weighed. The heavier it weight, the more sweat has accumulated.

Try to have the fellowing info ready for the doctor:

Location

Is it on face, palms, or armpits?

Is it all over the body?

Time pattern

Does it occur at night?

Did it begin suddenly?

How long have you had it?

Triggers

Does it occur in response to reminders of a traumatic event?

What other symptoms are present (for example, weight loss, a pounding heartbeat, lack of appetite)?

Are the hands cold and clammy?

Is there a fever?

The more occourance info you can provode, the easlier for the doctor to determent if it Primary/Secondary.
Excessive sweating?
anti-perspient
Reply:well try to take a cold bath or shower maybe that will help ^_^.
Reply:You should see a doctor, maybe a dermatologist. Is there something that makes you nervous that may cause this? Some people may sweat a lot naturally. ok good luck.
Reply:There is a medical problem with excessive sweating...something about overactive sweat glands. I saw a special about it on discovery channel once but can't remember the name...
Reply:SAME HERE. BUT I FOUND 2 AMAZING PROUCTS AND NOW I NEVER SWEAT. OK AT NIGHT BEFORE GOING TO BED, I PUT ON SECRET CLINICAL STRENGTH. THEN IN THE MORNING BEFORE SCHOOL, I PUT ON MITCHUM FOR WOMEN SMART SOLID. BOTH WORK WONDERS

Reply:You may have over active sweat glands. It's not your fault, you're not gross or anything... it's just your body feels the need to release water in an alternate way and cool your body down. You should talk to your Dr. They have high strength prescription deodarant and antipersperant(sp?) It may be embarassing to pick up your prescription but better then sweating through your clothes! Good luck!
Reply:i have the same exact probably sweat in an air conditioner even when its going directly on you and sometimes its not that bad and sometimes it horrible it could be a cause of hyperhydrosis one thing that helped me quite a bit but not fully was a product called Drysol but thats if you have a main source of sweat such as underarms---you put it on before you go to bed and your supposed to wash the area before you put it on but make sure you DO NOT scrub the area just wash it very gently because scrubbing will make tiny cuts in the skin that u really cant see or feel until u put it on and it burns horribly
Reply:The condition for excessive sweating is called Hyperhidrosis. Lots of us think we have this condition, but that's not usually the case...sometimes it just may be nerves. I tend to sweat alot out of nerves (even from just sitting in class), but I also do have a very low threshold to heat - I got hot very easily, then I sweat like crazy.

In any case, there is nothing wrong with sweating. It is very natural, and for the record - sweat is very clean; it's sterile when it first starts to come out of the body/skin.

I learned that using anti-perspirants aren't always the solution. Sometimes they won't work, other times you'll develop a bad rash if it's too strong, and sometimes if you stop sweating in one place you'll end up sweating somewhere else.

If your sweating really bothers you, you might want to really check with your doctor 1st before doing anything drastic. Also, here's a website that might also be useful for some information -- http://www.sweaty-palms.com

Good luck %26amp; take care. Try not to let public opinion about sweating bother you - opinions don't ever count for much.
